STAIN-X® Stain Remover - FAQ
Stain Removers
Q. After using other stain removers on carpet stains, the stains seems to reappear. Why does this happen?
A. Most other carpet stain removal products simply "push" the stain into the carpet pad below. As the carpet dries the stain is drawn back into the carpet. STAIN-X® Stain Remover is designed to go into the carpet and "lift" the stain up to the surface to be blotted away. Because STAIN-X® Stain Remover lifts the stain from the carpet stains will not reappear.
Q. I used STAIN-X® Stain Remover on a red wine stain and the stain turned a light bluish color - what should I do?
A. Apply STAIN-X® Stain Remover to the stain again and the remaining wine stain will disappear.
Q. How do I find a retailer near me that carries STAIN-X® products?
A. STAIN-X® is available at most local vacuum shops. The professionals in these shops should be able to help you with most flooring type problems. STAIN-X® is also available to purchase on our website, or call us and we will find a local retailer for you.
Q. Who is the Carpet and Rug Institute and what does the Seal Of Approval mean?
A. The Carpet and Rug Institute is an independent laboratory established by the major carpet manufacturers to test products. STAIN-X® Stain Remover and STAIN-X® Ultra Extraction Shampoo have both earned the Seal of Approval from the Carpet and Rug Institute. Using products that carry this seal may not void your manufacturer's warranty. Does the product you have been using carry this seal? For more information on the CRI please click the link below.

Carpet Cleaning - Warm Water Extraction Method
Suggested Cleaning Steps
1. Vacuum area to be cleaned.
2. Pre-test product. Use only products that carry the Carpet and Rug Institute Seal of Approval, such as Stain-X® Pro Carpet Extraction Shampoo
3. Protect the carpet from rust stains by putting aluminum foil, wax paper, or plastic wrap under furniture legs until carpet is dry.
4. Follow the instructions on the cleaning solution to ensure the proper mix of solution to water (Stain-X® Pro Carpet Extraction Shampoo mixes 1 oz. of soution to 1 gallon of warm water)
5. Be sure to rinse all cleaning solutions out of the carpet.
6. Allow carpet to completely dry before resuming normal activities.
Q. What is the recommended amount of carpet shampoo needed to properly clean my carpet?
A. Always look at the water-to-shampoo ratio recommended on the extraction machine you are using, and compare to the recommended water-to-shampoo ratio on the shampoo. We recommend using the ratio on the shampoo - in the case of STAIN-X® Pro Extraction Shampoo we recommend you use 1 to 2 oz. per gallon of water.
Odor Neutralizer
Q. Is Stain-X® Pro Odor Neutralizer an enzyme-based odor neutralizer?
A. Stain-X® Pro Odor Neutralizer is not formulated with enzymes for one major reason...time. Most enzyme-based odor neutralizers take up to 10 minutes to effectively eliminate odors. Stain-X® Pro Odor Neutralizer begins to work immediately and eliminates the odor in seconds. Also you can spray Stain-X® Pro Odor Neutralizer in the air to freshen any room.
